Two years ago, my partner Michael and I bought our first home together, a 1970s brick veneer in Coorparoo. I saw the potential in this house the minute I saw it appear online. I sold a reluctant Michael on the idea that we would paint the interior, and move in. It would be bigger than our current unit, with parking, and neighbours that little bit further away. Michael was heading into exams for his law degree, so I promised we would finish the study first so he could get focused on uni.

Within two weeks, we had removed the bathroom, kitchen, some key walls, and all the ceilings throughout. We moved in to the new house, and then we almost immediately had to move in with my parents.

Fast forward two years, the  'quick paint job' ended up being a full scale renovation. Just when the interior renovation work was winding down, my itch to move set in.

Michael and I decided that whilst we loved our house and the work we had done, we wanted to buy land in a neighbourhood that we could see ourselves living in long term.
